In addition to genetic traits, understanding the effects of environmental factors is critical for effective management and accurate estimation of breeding values of production traits in goat farming, as a variety of genetic and non-genetic factors have the potential to influence milk production traits in goats. The Animal Breeding Research Station of Shahrekord University provided seven years of collected records to study the influence of environmental factors on milk production and composition of Saanen goats in Shahrekord. With year, month, type of calving and parity as fixed factors and the goat effect as a random factor, a mixed model with repeated measures was used to analyze these data. The fat percentage and the milk production on the test day were significantly influenced by each of the factors mentioned (p <0.05). However, the month of calving had no significant influence on protein, lactose and total-solid-non fat content, and the number of kids had no significant influence on protein content, total milk production and lactation length (p>0. 05). The highest daily milk production related to month of calving in february (2.59 ± 0.17 kg), in the twin calving of goats (2.06 ± 0.16 kg) and in the fifth parity (2.54 ± 0.22 kg). As lactation progressed, the fat, lactose and total fat content increased. In the middle of lactation stage, protein content decreased. To ensure stable milk production in lactating Saanen goats, it is concluded that correction of known non-genetic factors is required to increase selection efficiency and establish appropriate management practices.
