Abstract

The purpose of this experiment is to evaluate the effects of supplementing the diet with different sources of urea on nitrogen release rate, fermentation kinetics, gas production parameters and nutrient disappearance rate in vitro. The solubility of urea in buffer solutions in 9 time series of were measured using photometric method. Fermentation kinetics, gas production parameters and nutrient disappearance rate were measured and calculated by using modified gas production technique Invitro. The results showed that the solubility of urea in the buffer solutions for the lab sample was lower with a gentle slope compared to the Optigen commercial product during incubation hours. The observed results for gas production with the over time, i.e. 24 hours of incubation, for diets containing slow-release urea (SRU) compared to diets containing uncoated urea, had a Linear (P≤0.01) and Quadratic relations (P≤0.01) increase trend. Also, the differences between the average amount of decomposed organic matter for the control diet and the diet containing SRU were significantly higher than the diet containing uncoated urea. The highest amount of PF was related to diets containing 100 g per day of SRU and basic diet. More than 50% of the disappearance in dry matter of experimental diets occurred after 12 hours incubating. The digestibility of dry matter at 24 hours after incubation of diets containing SRU was higher than uncoated urea Linearly (P≤0.01), Quadratic (P≤0.01). Despite the obvious effect of SRU on crude protein digestibility in the early hours of incubation were not significant for NDF (P≥0.05),
