This experiment was designed to evaluate the effect of phenolic components of Scrophularia striata powder on feed intake, digestion and fermentation, rumination kinetic and rumen ecosystem in Lori-Bakhtiari sheep. In this experiment, 12 six months old lambs and average weight 30±1.5 kg were fed with 0 (control), 3 and 6 percent Scrophularia striata for one month. Feed intake, digestibility, rumination activity, blood metabolites and protozoa were measured. The results showed that the use of Scrophularia striata had no effect on dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) intake, body weight and feed efficiency (P>0.05). The relationship between live body weight, body length, girth circumference, animal hight, upper, middle as well as lower width of fat-tail, fat-tail length, fat-tail gap length, fat-tail depth and fat-tail circumference along with fat-tail weight were determined using records of 731 Loribakhtiari sheep. Principal Component and Least Square Analyses were applied to solve the collinearity instability. Collinearity problems as portrayed by variance inflation factors above 5 or 10 were evident in some of independent variables. Results showed that the problem of collinearity in relation with fat-tail weight of 11 independent variables could be solved by using Principal Component Analysis method. Fat-tail gap length, fat-tail depth, and fat-tail circumference vs. girth circumference, and fat-tail length respectively represented the highest and the lowest coefficients regarding the estimation of fat-tail weight.

In order to identify the segre QTL affecting growth traits on the end region of chromosome 18 in a Lori-Bakhtiari sheep population, 162 animals from 5 paternal half-sib families were taken to be studied. Phenotypic data included records of birth weight (BWT), weight at one month of age (W1), weaning weight (WWT), weight at six months of age (W6), chest circumference (GI6), body length (LG6), withers height at six months of age (HT6), weight at nine months of age (W9) as well as yearling weight (W12). Five sires along with their progeny were genotyped for 3 microsatellite markers in a candidate region on chromosome 18. QTL analysis was conducted using regression interval mapping with a single-QTL model. The individual family analysis suggested some QTLs segregating in families 1 and 5. In family 1, a QTL residing between CSSM18 and TMR1 markers was associated with BWT (117 cM), W1 (116 cM) and WWT (118 cM) (P
